Sue Lambert Trust

Plain Speaking PR is proud to be the PR partner for Sue Lambert Trust, a Norfolk charity providing specialist counselling and support services to people who have experienced sexual violence and sexual abuse.

The charity came to us asking for support to help define its brand values, messages and deliver PR activity to ensure it became better known within the county.

Via our Brand Vitals© process, we helped Sue Lambert Trust to redefine its brand values and develop an agreed tone of voice.  This has gone on to inform all PR activity.

As the charity’s ongoing PR partner, we work closely with the senior leadership team on strategic PR and communications planning to help the charity achieve its goals. As well as providing additional resource to the marketing and fundraising team.

We provide press office support to the charity, and deal with all media enquiries. We provide both a proactive and reactive press office service, ensuring that the organisation is regularly called upon for interview by relevant media and all spokespeople are properly briefed and prepared.

Proactively, we identify opportunities for Sue Lambert Trust to share its news and provide comments, achieving a regular drip-feed of media coverage.

We work closely with the charity’s team to identify newsworthy stories and topics, producing regular press releases and comments.  This includes fundraising news and commenting on breaking stories relating to sexual abuse and sexual violence.

Importantly, we also help clients tell their own personal stories by sensitively interviewing people and producing client stories.

In addition, we also generate campaign ideas and plans to support fundraising, advise and support the in-house team with social media activity, research and write copy for both online and print document, advise on issues management and support with the overall brand and visual identity.

In 2022, we worked closely with the in-house team and web designer to successfully launch the Trust’s new website, delivering all the copywriting, and advising on the look and feel of content throughout.   We also devised the Trust’s first ever sexual consent survey, the results of which have been used to inform a range of activities and press materials.

“Pippa and Hannah have been instrumental in supporting Sue Lambert Trust to gain the recognition the organisation deserves along with building its reputation as the leading charity supporting people who have experienced sexual abuse and violence in Norfolk.  Both are attentive, thorough and very professional and I would highly recommend Plain Speaking PR to any organisation working on their brand.”

When she left journalism to pursue roles in PR, Steph took her news instincts with her and has achieved valuable media coverage for organisations from a varied range of industries, including healthcare, education, housing and animal welfare.

Steph, a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, now brings her eclectic experience to Plain Speaking PR as a freelance consultant, supporting clients with bespoke copywriting, research and media pitching.

Outside of work, Steph enjoys family days out with her young daughter, cuddles with her rescue cat Clarence, a good thriller on the telly, and the – albeit occasional – run.

Hannah Freeman, Client Services Director

Hannah is our client services director and has been with the business since 2018. Pippa’s right-hand woman, she’s responsible for overseeing accounts, managing client agency relationships, and making sure we’re delivering a professional PR service that delivers real value, contributing to objectives and goals.

Working in PR and communications since graduating (let’s not count the years!) Hannah has worked in PR for 15+ years, mostly spent agency side, advising clients in a diverse range of sectors, spanning tourism, hospitality, B2B services, waste and recycling, public sector, retail, and charities. She completed the CIPR Diploma in 2010.

Hannah brings in-house experience too, having worked as a PR and communications officer for one of the UK’s largest social housing groups for 18 months. She gets what it’s like to be the client, understanding the challenges and demands of this role.

Outside of work, Hannah walks, lifts weights, occasionally paddleboards, tries to keep plants alive and watches Schitt’s Creek on repeat. Mum to two busy, sporty girls, she’s also their PA. In summer, an outdoor dip at Beccles Lido is her no.1 spot to enjoy time out.
